Coppice Primary Partnership is a multi-academy trust. The Trust Board is the legally accountable body for all schools within the Trust and is responsible for ensuring that the Trust fulfils its charitable, legal and regulatory duties.

Our governance structure is designed to provide clear accountability, effective oversight and strong local insight.

Members

Members have an important constitutional role within the Trust. They are the guardians of the Trust’s charitable purpose and ensure that the Trust continues to operate in accordance with its Articles of Association.

Members appoint a number of Trustees and hold the Trust Board to account for the effective governance of the Trust.

Trust Board

The Trust Board is responsible for the strategic direction and overall governance of Coppice Primary Partnership.

Trustees are collectively responsible for:

• setting the Trust’s vision, values and strategic direction;
• holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the Trust and its schools;
• overseeing the Trust’s financial performance and ensuring that public funds are used effectively;
• ensuring that the Trust complies with its legal, regulatory and safeguarding responsibilities.

The Trust Board retains overall accountability for all four CPP schools.

Board Committees

The Trust Board delegates detailed scrutiny and assurance to its committees while retaining overall accountability.

CPP currently has two Board committees:

• Finance & Audit Committee, which provides assurance over finance, audit, risk, resources and operational matters; and
• Inclusion & Education Committee, which provides assurance over educational standards, inclusion, safeguarding and school improvement.

Each committee reports to the Trust Board.

Local Tier

Each CPP school has a Local Tier:

• Coxheath Primary School
• Loose Primary School
• St Katherine’s School & Nursery
• Staplehurst School

Local Tiers provide important school-level assurance, monitoring and local insight. They help the Trust Board understand how the Trust’s strategy and school priorities are being experienced by pupils, staff, families and the wider community.

The Trust Board sets out the responsibilities delegated to Local Tier through the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation.

Executive Leadership

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Trust, supported by the Trust’s executive and central team and the Headteachers of each school.

The CEO is accountable to the Trust Board for the performance and effective operation of the Trust.
